Colton Sheppard is the recipient of the FFF Clarice Diamond Fry Memorial Scholarship. He graduated from Glovertown Academy as the Valedictorian and is now a first year student at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus. Colton has a deep rooted love for learning new things, as well as a passion for sports. He involved himself in many sports while at Glovertown Academy, such as Basketball, Softball, Cross Country Running, Ultimate Frisbee, and his personal favourite, Volleyball. This love for sports also led Colton to become a leader for the PN Unplugged Program, which provides physical activity for elementary students after school. He also worked with the Adventure Biking Project to help expand the program, which aims to empower youth through cycling adventures. Colton is studying Physics currently, but is leaving the door open to change if he decides to further his knowledge on another subject he is passionate about. With plans to pursue Secondary Education after his first degree, Colton dreams of returning to the classroom to be the cause of the excitement he felt walking in to learn with his favourite teachers.

Dean's Leadership Award in Engineering

Fares Khalil is the recipient of the FFF Dean's Leadership Award in Engineering. Fares is a Computer Engineering student (class of 2025) from Alexandria, Egypt. He has been junior VP Academic and then senior VP Academic of the MUN Engineering Society. He represents MUN engineering students and ensure their voices are heard in faculty meetings. He also worked on resolving concerns between first-year engineering students and their professors. To improve the experience for incoming engineering students, Fares created an extensive yet manageable orientation program that was inclusive and addressed the different support resources available on campus. He also bridged the gap between Society A and B in the academic portfolio, which allowed for improvements in programs like the Engineering Student Peer Network (ESPN), which is now a tradition for both societies to organize every semester. Fares is also the Class Representative for the MUN Computer Engineering Class of 2025 where he has been advocating for students, providing continuous feedback on the program to the department head, and organizing events each semester to connect junior Electrical, Computer, and Mechatronics classes with senior Electrical and Computer classes. He is also chair of the IEEE Student Branch at MUN where he organized the IEEEXtreme coding competition at MUN, ensured that students have the opportunity to attend conferences, and is working on renewing the McNaughton Center to benefit all students. Additionally, Fares started a partnership with MUN Robogals to collaborate on larger events like hackathons and meet-and-greet sessions. He also started the Professor's Appreciation Award to recognize the efforts and hard work of MUN professors whom the students choose.
