The 2025-26 Award season at Memorial University began this year with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. That was followed by the Community Centre Alliance Awards, the School of Music Ceremony, and a second Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science ceremony. FFF usually also attends award ceremonies at the Faculty of Business Administration and the Chancellors Awards. In person events are always a great time to connect with scholarship recipients and FFF Alumni.

JMC Facey Engineering Scholarship

Andrew Woodrow is the recipient of the 2025-26 JMC Facey Engineering Scholarship. Andrew is a first-year engineering student at Memorial University of Newfoundland.  Andrew grew up in St. John's and graduated from Holy Heart of Mary High School. He plans to become a civil engineer.   Through high school, Andrew was very involved in extracurricular activities. He played wheelchair basketball, was on his high school debate team and participated in the Junior Achievers Program. He was the Easter Seals NL ambassador for two years running. As Ambassador, he represented Easter Seals at various events, serving as a spokesperson for the organization, and helping spread awareness about the importance of the programming and services that the organization provides to persons with disabilities in the province.  When he is not studying, you can find Andrew on the boccia court. He is a para-athlete, competing in boccia provincially and nationally as part of the NL Boccia Team and internationally with the Boccia Canada Espoir Team, which is the lead up to the national team. This year he traveled to Brazil for the World Junior Boccia Championships, bringing home a gold and a bronze for Canada. He also traveled to Chile to represent Canada in the 2025 Youth Parapan Games, where he won a silver medal and was selected as the Canadian flag bearer in the closing ceremonies.


Clarice Diamond Fry Memorial Scholarship

Georgia Collins is the recipient of the 2025-26 Clarice Diamond Fry Memorial Scholarship. Georgia is a first-year MUN student in the Faculty of Human Kinetics and Recreation pursuing a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She is a graduate of Glovertown Academy, where she earned academic honours and was awarded the 2024-25 School Sport NL Athlete of the Year. Georgia showcased an unwavering commitment to both her studies and athletics. From a young age, Georgia demonstrated a profound passion for sports, excelling as a multisport athlete and accumulating numerous provincial titles in various sports. However, her love for hockey was most evident, which led her to represent her province as a member of Team Newfoundland and Labrador in both ice and ball hockey at Atlantic and National competitions. Georgia loved sharing her passion for sports with the youth in the community serving as a Participation Nation Leader as well as a volleyball and soccer coach. She was an active member of the student council at her school and helped organize many special events to foster school spirit. In addition to her academic and athletic endeavours, Georgia has spent the last two summers working with her community's recreation program, enjoying hands-on experiences that have allowed her to connect with local youth through various activities. Her deep-rooted pride in the small community that shaped her character fuels her ambition to apply the skills she has gained in her pursuit of a career in the medical field.


​Charlotte Penwell Dolimount Memorial Scholarship

Erin Bungay is the 2025-26 recipient of the Charlotte Penwell Dolimount Memorial Scholarship. After graduating with honours from John Burke High School in her hometown of Grand Bank, Erin was accepted into the faculty of Human Kinetics and Recreation at Memorial University of Newfoundland. With her involvement and passion for sport, recreation, and physical and mental wellness, Erin’s goal is to pursue a career in the area of health and sports medicine sciences. Erin feels that the Charlotte Penwell Dolimount Memorial Scholarship has helped provide a financial foundation as well as inspired and motivated her to persevere and excel in her area of study and future career path.

Amelia (Dolimount) Sellars Leadership Award in Women’s Athletics

Naomie Chaperon Ducé is the inaugural recipient of the Amelia Dolimount Sellars Leadership Award in Women's Athletics.  Naomie is a dedicated student-athlete whose 10 years of basketball experience have shaped her into a disciplined and passionate leader. In her previous team, she was awarded the Heart of the Team for embodying the qualities of a supportive, inspiring and trustworthy leader for her teammates. Recruited to play at the university level, she now represents Memorial University as a point guard while excelling academically in Kinesiology. Back home in Montreal, she has been deeply involved in her community, coaching young athletes and inspiring them through her commitment and work ethic. Naomie’s strong connection to the communities that raised her, combined with the discipline and confidence she has developed through sport, fuels her desire to serve others as she works toward her long-term goal of becoming a sports physician.


​Dean's Leadership Award in Education

Sarah Hawkins is the recipient of the FFF Dean's Leadership Award in Education. Originally from Torbay, Sarah is completing her Bachelor of Education (Intermediate/Secondary) at Memorial University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology & Chemistry) and a Bachelor of Arts (French & Psychology), and is pursuing a Master of Science in Biomedical Studies through London Metropolitan University. With her bilingual background and passion for science and French education, Sarah hopes to teach in her home province and contribute to an engaging learning environment. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Sarah has served as a Biology Peer-Assisted Learning Leader and Mentor for multiple years, supporting first-year students through collaborative learning. This experience has allowed her to build strong rapport with learners and develop a deep understanding of how to meet diverse student needs. Sarah is widely recognized for her leadership and community engagement. She currently serves as President of the MUN Intermediate/Secondary Education Society. She has been actively involved in multiple student societies and leadership positions across campus, both before taking on this role and continuing now. Outside the university, she is an active volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, The Pencil Project NL, and the NL Science Fairs Council. Across these roles, Sarah is known for her compassion, initiative, and commitment to empowering others. As she begins her teaching career, Sarah hopes to inspire confidence and leadership in her future students, just as her own mentors from Holy Trinity High School and MUN inspired her.

Dean's Leadership Award in Engineering

Hannah Doyle is the recipient of the FFF Dean's Leadership Award in Engineering. Hannah is a mechanical engineering student (Class of 2026) from Carbonear. She has served as Junior VP Academic and then Senior VP Academic of the MUN Engineering Society. As VP Academic, Hannah has advocated for students and brought forth their concerns to faculty meetings. Outside of this role, she tutors at the Student Success Centre, where she enjoys sharing her love of engineering and helping other students build confidence in their courses. Hannah has completed several work terms in the engineering industry, gaining experience in both technical problem-solving and collaborative team environments. Over time, she discovered a strong passion for biomedical engineering and its potential to improve lives. In 2024, she and a partner participated in Illuminate with Genesis, receiving the Promising Idea Award for a biomedical project. They later won first place in the Genesis Evolution competition, further developing their healthcare innovation project.

Recently, Hannah completed the MCAT and hopes to pursue a career that blends engineering and medicine. She is especially interested in creating practical, patient-focused technologies that make healthcare more accessible and effective. Whether through hands-on projects, leadership roles, or peer support, Hannah is always looking for ways to learn and make a positive impact. She’s excited about where engineering will take her and how she can use it to help others.

​Dean's Leadership Award in Music

Aoife Strand is the 2025-2026 recipient of the FFF Dean's Leadership Award in Music. Aoife is a first year undergraduate student at Memorial University's School of Music, studying voice with Dr. Jane Leibel. She recently graduated from Holy Heart Regional High, where she was avidly involved in the choir and music programs. During the 2024-2025 academic year, Aoife was selected to be a Section Leader in the Holy Heart Chamber Choir, and within that role was given the opportunity to run sectionals, lead her peers, and even conduct a small ensemble in concert. At graduation, Aoife was the recipient of the Holy Heart of Mary Alumnae Choir's 25th Anniversary Scholarship, which is awarded to a Holy Heart graduate who has shown dedication to the choral program and is pursuing music studies post-secondary. Additionally, Aoife is also heavily involved with Shallaway Youth Choir, with whom she has sung with for over a decade, and has been a volunteer apprentice with younger ensembles in Shallaway for several years. In February of 2025, Aoife was the winner of the St. John's Kiwanis Music Festival's Junior Vocal Rosebowl. She then went on to compete at both the provincial and national level, winning first runner-up for voice in the Developing Artist category of the Federation of Canadian Music Festival's national competition.
