2026-27 Scholarship Recipients
In 1996, Darryl Fry funded five new entrance scholarships at Memorial University. He wanted his gift directed toward scholarships for three reasons: "First, I wanted to help some deserving students. Second, I wanted to recognize some of the individuals who inspired me over the years, and third, to contribute to the university that provided my wife [Marlene] and I with a window to the world. It was my mother's drive for education combined with my teacher's enthusiasm for math, along with two professors who showed students the practical benefits of math and chemistry, who inspired me to pick a career in chemical engineering which subsequently took me into the business world." The original FFF scholarships were a tribute to Clarice Diamond Fry, Charlotte Penwell Dolimount, J.M.C. Facey, Hugh J. Anderson, and Ralph Vincent. Learn more about the 30 years of our MUN Scholarship Program History as it tells the story of these original scholarships and provides an overview of other awards, including photos of past scholarship recognition events.

The 2026-27 Award season at Memorial University began this year with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. That is followed by the Community Centre Alliance Awards, the School of Music Ceremony, a second Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science ceremony, and the Faculty of Business Administration Awards reception. In person events are always a great time to connect with scholarship recipients and FFF Alumni.
We also attend the prestigious Celebration of Excellence event which was an opportunity to join convocation medal recipients and award recipients, honorary doctorate honourees and special guests for an afternoon of joy, connection and well-earned recognition. |

Emilee Wolfrey is the recipient of the 2026-27 Clarice Diamond Fry Memorial Scholarship. Emilee is from Traytown and is a graduate of Glovertown Academy, where she earned academic honours and was named to the Principal’s List. She is currently a first-year student at Memorial University working toward a Bachelor of Science degree, with the goal of continuing into medicine. Emilee is a compassionate, hardworking and inclusive young leader who leads by example. She was an active member of the Student Council and helped organize school events, encouraged others to become involved and represented her school at several leadership conferences. A strong believer in giving back, Emilee tutored younger students and volunteered with the Glovertown Events Committee, assisting with Community Days, dinner theatres, Easter egg hunts and movie nights. She has received several volunteer awards and was selected by the Rotary Club of Gander to participate in the Adventure in Citizenship program in Ottawa. Emilee hopes to build a career in medicine, where she can continue helping others and creating safe, respectful and supportive environments.
