Spotlight - The Chancellor's Awards/FFF Leadership Awards
Georgia Darminkow is the recipient of the Chancellor's Graduate Award and Fry Family Foundation Graduate Leadership Award. Georgia graduated with a Master of Science in Medicine specializing in Clinical Epidemiology. During her time at Memorial she volunteered with Gateway Refugee Clinic and the Association of New Canadians to conduct science-related activities; started the AIDS Committee of NL; was an executive member of the Science Rendezvous and the Science Literacy Week planning committees; and volunteered with Global Brigades, where she travelled to Honduras to help provide medical/dental and public health information.
Lucas Walters is the recipient of the Chancellor's Undergraduate Award and the Fry Family Foundation Undergraduate Leadership Award. Lucas graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Psychology. During his time at Memorial, Lucas has been President of the Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience Society; the Canadian Psychological Association campus representative; and a mental health representative for Cluett Hall Residence. Lucas is also a national chapter lead for Jack.org, which is focused on youth mental health and suicide prevention. He is also a certified mental health educator and public speaker with the organization.
