Education Partnerships
The Fry Family has been building Partnerships with Educational Institutions in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1997. In 2021 the Foundation awarded 69 post-secondary scholarships to students in the province.
“Marlene and I set up the Fry Family Foundation to focus some of our assets and time on charitable causes. About 90 per cent of our effort is devoted to our Newfoundland roots, with MUN benefiting the most. We have endowed or committed to many annual scholarships. Why scholarships? We could think of nothing better than to play a small part in financing the growth of Newfoundland and Labrador's bright young prospects... We feel the extra motivation and confidence a scholarship brings to a student is even more important than the financial aid.”

The Fry Family Foundation committed to expand its focus on Leadership Development and Community Engagement by enhancing our Partnerships in Education. This will be achieved through the development and support of innovative programs that foster Leadership, Service Learning and Entrepreneurship, particularly amongst students and enterprises that strive for positive and sustainable social impacts. In 2022 the Foundation provided funding that was leveraged to provide stipends for 104 students on Service-Learning and Entrepreneurial work placements in Newfoundland and Labrador.
