2022-2023 Scholarship Awards Ceremony Highlights

There were so many special things about this year's ceremony, including 18 new scholarships being awarded and 9 scholarships being renewed! James Lam is a FFF Alumnus who received two FFF CCA Scholarships and did a great job as Master of Ceremonies. The event also featured several Guest Speakers including FFF Alumnus Katie Sears who reflected on what receiving a FFF scholarship in 2008-09 meant to her. Kenny Rambolamanana  spoke about his experience as a 2nd year MUN Engineering student who completed a FFF sponsored Service Learning Work placement with the CCA. FFF President Paul Burt  delivered remarks about the CCA Scholarship program. Bob Dawson received a special Peter Gzowski PGI Literacy Award. There were FFF Trustees visiting from Florida and Ontario, as well as many of our local FFF Friends. In addition, event setup and serving was done masterfully by CCA students who had completed the 'Value of Work, Value of Money' youth employment and skills program.
In 2016 Katie Sears wrote:

"I will never forget the day I was awarded the Fry Family Scholarship. Receiving it has been a big help with going to Memorial University and I couldn't be happier. Going to University has it moments, it gets stressful and there is a lot of work, but I know in the end it will have been worth it."
