Fry Family Foundation Junior Leadership Award, 2008
Fry Family Foundation Junior Leadership Award, 2008

I received the Junior Leadership Award when I was in Grade 9, and while I had plans to go on to university, I knew I would be responsible for paying my own tuition. Receiving this award was very meaningful to me as it allowed and encouraged me to pursue post-secondary education at Memorial University, and it really set me up for my future. I am truly grateful to have had this financial support from the Fry Family Foundation for my first year of studies.
After I received this award, I completed a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2014 and went on to complete my Master of Social Work in 2020. After receiving my BSW, I became employed as a Child Protection Social Worker with the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development.
Once again, I am truly grateful to have been a recipient of the Fry Family Foundation Junior Leadership Award, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education that led to my career protecting children in our province. Thank you to the Fry Family Foundation!
