Fry Family Foundation Junior Leadership Award, 2014
I received the Junior Leadership Award in 2014 when I was graduating from Corner Brook Regional High School. At the time, I had aspirations to work in healthcare. When I received this award, I was looking forward to completing a bachelor's degree in neuroscience and I began reflecting on the type of career I would like to pursue.
Today, I am a third year medical student at Memorial University and a recent graduate of the Master of Public Health program at Memorial University. In the future, I hope to practice as a physician in the province with a focus on public health initiatives, and would love to one day open a clinic.
The Fry Family Junior Leadership Award was a pivotal moment in my life, as it set the foundation for me to pursue a career that values leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. This award was the first scholarship that I had received, and as a high school student at the time, it inspired me to take on leadership positions and opened many doors as I moved through post-secondary studies. I am very thankful to the Fry Family for giving countless opportunities to students to follow their dreams and passions over the past 25 years.
