The Vera Perlin Society is a not for profit, charitable organization dedicated to serving individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Founded by Mrs. Vera Perlin in 1954, its mission is to secure and/or provide quality services and support for individuals with a developmental disability and their families in the St. John's areas, enabling them to participate in all areas of community living. The Vera Perlin Charitable Foundation was incorporated in 1990 as the fundraising arm of the Vera Perlin Society and its mandate is to raise funds necessary to meet their financial needs.
In 2007 Fry Family Foundation approved a $50,000 grant for the proposed redevelopment of the Vera Perlin Training Center at 350 Pennywell Road in St. John’s. In 2009, the Foundation made an additional donation of $50,000 which was used to challenge other groups to come on board to finish the project. The Federal Government contributed $500,000, the Provincial Government $500,000 and the City of St. John’s $250,000. and in addition they raised $750,000 from various groups and individuals in the province. We are proud that FFF provided the funds for the Education Room at this facility and provided support to an organization which has been serving the community for over 65 years.
