President's Excellence in Leadership Achievement
This year's recipient of the prestigious FFF President's Excellence in Leadership Achievement Award is Antoni Power. This award recognizes the student who has best demonstrated high academic achievement, coupled with exceptional leadership ability and a strong commitment to the province through volunteerism. Antoni completed the Licensed Practical Nursing diploma program at CNA Carbonear Campus, graduating with honours. Throughout his program he was very busy! Antoni was a council member of the CNA Student’s Union (CNASU); treasurer of the 2023 Practical Nursing Graduation Committee; and the CNA representative for the Partnership Recruitment Committee between CNA and the Centre for Nursing Studies (CNS). In addition to these committees, Antoni also volunteered at the Splash Centre in Harbour Grace. He managed to balance all these roles while working part-time as a PCA with Compassion Home Care. Antoni stated, "I feel it’s very important to continue working and contributing to the community in order to shape a better future for those around me, especially the up-and-coming generations." He was also the recipient of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL) Clinical Excellence Award for the Practical Nursing Class of 2023. Antoni has accepted a full-time, permanent position at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence.

Learn about Carly Young in My Journey to Mental Wellness. Carly is a Community Leadership Development Program student and is using her voice to help eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness. After years of being silent, Carly came to the realization that, "I do have a voice, and I can use it to help others who are experiencing the same difficulties as I am." |
