Past Community Partnerships
NL Arts and the Fry Family NL Art Collection
Part of the Mission of Fry Family Foundation is to help build stronger communities by supporting health, social causes, nature and the arts. For the past 25 years, the Fry Family has worked to enhance the visual arts of the province by collecting and displaying a body of paintings and prints by local artists. Darryl Fry has said that one of the reasons they started collecting NL Art was to "provide a way to stay attached to the unique culture of our roots."

In 2004, FFF worked with the Town of Glovertown to establish the House of Diamonds Art Gallery to introduce quality NL art to the public and help local artists. The Gallery later became Diamond House which now operates as a non-profit arts centre. Two pieces from the Fry Family NL Art Collection remain on permanent display. Learn more about FFF support of Diamond House.
In 2013, FFF started to move their Collection into the Christopher Pratt Gallery in Bay Roberts, which was established with the epic support of its world-renowned namesake. There are now 40 pieces from their NL Art Collection on display and included in this group is work by 19 different artists, including 9 pieces by Christopher, Mary and Barbara Pratt. In 2022, the Foundation is supporting a special 'Come Home Year' summer exhibit at the Gallery, featuring additional pieces from their Collection. In 2019, a monetary donation from FFF to The Rooms enabled them to acquire Christopher Pratt’s ‘Trongate Abstract: Art School Fire’ for the Provincial Collection. Read more about FFF support of The Rooms.
We are proud to provide support to the visual arts in NL. It is our belief that the acquisition and display of artwork can help promote a sense of pride in Newfoundland and Labrador, assisting people to better appreciate who they are.
